Get Certified in Tea in San Francisco.

This month, from Jan. 20 - 23, the Specialty Tea Institute is bringing its tea certification program to San Francisco.

One to Four Day Program: Levels 1 - 3 offered
The program is one to four days depending on the level of certification you want, up to three levels for four days effort. Each day builds upon the previous day’s knowledge and so forth. Days 1 and 2 go over the foundations of tea (i.e. tea processing, tasting, cupping) and days 3 and 4 delve into advanced (professional) topics on black, green, oolong, pu’erh, and white teas, and teas from specific tea growing regions.

Be Prepared to Slurp

You can expect to slurp (taste) plenty of teas during this intense program. I was in Manhattan, last year, and became certified. You don’t have to stay for all four days. You can stay for as long as you like up to the certification level that you want, up to three levels.

Get Connected and Meet Others

If you are a cafe operator or interested party, I highly recommend that you go. Last year, I went and met ingredient scientists from Mars (Candy) of England. You will meet contacts and new friends, from all over and all walks of life. You can expect plenty of hungry and optimistic entrepreneurs and experienced tea purveyors and plenty of tea and tea samples. Cheers!
